ABOUT HARRY

Who is Disabled Human?

Harry Newton

My name is Harry, I'm originally from West Yorkshire until my family moved to Wiltshire in 2003. I was born 11 weeks premature and as a result of starvation of oxygen, I was born with spastic quadriplegia or more generally known as form of cerebral palsy which is a neurological condition. CP doesn't define my identity it's just a condition that I have to live with. Besides who likes to be labelled anyway? I'm not Paddington Bear!

I'm a gregarious, compassionate and outgoing individual and my idiosyncrasies have driven and motivated me to try and succeed in every aspect of my life and feel God's strength shapes me into who I am everyday. I try and think outside of the box and my hobbies tend to go hand in hand with my idiosyncrasies. I am sports nut, music junkie, world traveller, fresh blogger, ale & cider devourer, literary enthusiast and colourful eclectic fashionista.

What are Idiosyncrasies?

I never really thought before about categorising my quirks and foibles that are unique to me, however, when I was brain storming and mind mapping ideas for this blog, the word 'Idiosyncrasies' came to the forefront of my mind.

"An idiosyncrasy is an unusual feature of a person. It can also mean an odd habit. The term is often used to express eccentricity or peculiarity"

As a disabled human, I have my character traits and my condition traits and together they give me a unique insight to world around me and how I react and behave in various situations and environments. I like to think I'm not your average person, I never let my limitations become an obstacle in the road and affect my ambitions. I'm constantly striving to ensure that I meet my own desires, expectations & dreams in life. I wish a 'HUGE' thanks to those who help keep me grounded, positive & humbled and allow me to express myself in all ways.
